Dr Hamish Campbell

Drones in the North

Dr Hamish is a spatial ecologist with a keen interest in the development and adoption of remote sensing technologies. He has been using drones for ecological research for a long time, but more recently realised the huge potential for these technologies across a suite of challenges particular to Northern Australia. These include delivery of medical services, support after catastrophic events, surveillance, and surveying. Whilst drone services offer significant opportunities for the north, there are substantial hurdles that require in-depth research across a broad range of disciplines. To solve these issues Dr Campbell has created the Drone Services Training and Research Centre here at CDU.
